About This Quote

This quote is often attributed to the poet Robert Browning. Browning is best known for his poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came." While this poem may be famous, few people know that Robert Browning said much more than just this. He wrote much about friendship, love, and other topics. The line above is based on a speech he gave at the University of Stuttgart in 1867.

In it, he explains why women are so stubborn. This line relates to how women are stubborn because they are too afraid to admit when they make a mistake. They hate to own up to their mistakes, even if it means looking like an idiot in front of others.
